The Rocasolano Institute of Physical Chemistry was set up in 1946 at the same as the Library . Its holdings came from the “National Institute of Physics and Chemsitry” created  in 1932. On account of a part building funds were financed by Rockefeller Fundations.

 The   holds 822 journal titles, of which 209 are active, 113 are complete starting from the first issue, 11date from the 19th century to our days, and 16 start prior to 1920.

The under the slogan has reinvented itself to adapt itself both to the new technologies and  to its users’ demands. In this new stage the has a new R&D&I service encharged to develop and integrate of scientific dissemination.

The  is considered by the scientific community as a Reference Periodical Library and is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding scientific libraries in Europe.
